The first book I ever received a contract for was a creator-driven graphic novel for Marvel's Epic Comics imprint back in the mid-1990s. Unfortunately, Epic folded, and so did the book. Soon after, I left comics behind. My sole comic book credit--until now--is a four-page insert in Dark Horse's GI Joe series, circa 1996. Sadly, the GI Joe series too was canceled, and only the first part of what was going to be a four-part story spanning four issues ever saw the light of day. I still get queries from time to time, asking what happened in the rest of the story. I wish I could remember!
I am thrilled to be returning to graphic novels after all these years. I love visual storytelling and the graphic novel medium. My first graphic novel, an all-ages book called Hop, Hop, Wish, is due out with First Second (an imprint of Roaring Brook Press/Holzbrink Publishers) in 2017. I think it is my best children's writing yet!
