My favorite picture books to date are The Origami Master and Broken Beaks. Here, everything came together as I envisioned it. I am very excited about the forthcoming publication of my picture books, Driftwood Days (Eerdmans) and Octopus Escapes! (Charlesbridge). I am also very excited about my forthcoming all-ages graphic novel, Hop, Hop, Wish (First Second/Roaring Brook Press). It is shaping up to be one of my best children's books yet.

"This short story, beautifully illustrated by Robert Ingpen, takes minutes to read. But its powerful message about people who are homeless and mentally ill--or those who are simply different--will linger with you for a long time."
--Washington Post, KidsPost Book of the Week
"Enchanting, moving, and beautifully written. Broken Beaks is a brilliant way to help young children begin to understand the tragedy of the homeless."
